Assumption school offers an academic program for Grades 1 through 9 that will transition students well for Senior Secondary school. The Ministry of Education in British Columbia mandates our programs, and we follow the same provincial curriculum as all elementary schools across B.C.
The Assumption school curriculum subjects are:
Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, French, Physical Education, Music, Art, Drama, and electives for grades 8 and 9 students. The electives are subject to change each year.
The 2006/2007-year electives are:
Term 1: Guitar, Info Tech, Choir, Band, Drama, and Art.
Term 2: Home Economics, Business Education, Community Recreation,
Band, and Media Studies. |

Yes, as you can see from the chart above, with more than one child in the school, it averages to less than the cost of sending your child to Preschool! |
Do we have to phone the office when my child is sick or away on holiday?
Yes, we ask that you please phone daily when your child is sick. It is also requested that you please let the office know when you are planning to take your child on a holiday. |

Safety/Health
No jewellery of any kind may be worn during PE classes or extracurricular sports practices and games.
Students will be responsible for removing and safeguarding these items at such times.
Parents who
wish their child exempted from this policy must inform the school in writing and be prepared to accept
responsibility for any injuries that occur.
Borrowing gym strip is not permitted.
Failure to have gym strip
Students who do not have the required PE strip will actively participate in the class with the incident
recorded. The teacher will contact the parents of a student who does not adhere to the rules on any
two occasions in one term. The teacher will keep the student in detention if it happens a third time - there
may be a mark reduction for the term. The teacher will inform the Principal if it happens a fourth time.
UNIFORM FOR MASS AND SPECIAL DAYS
To emphasize the importance and dignity of the Holy Mass, and to encourage the development of a sense of the sacred, sweaters, kilts,
jumpers, skorts and long navy pants are to be worn to Mass.
**Shorts, hoodies or tracksuits are not permitted.
GENERAL APPEARANCE
- SHIRTS are to be tucked in.
- KNEE SOCKS are to be worn at knees.
- KILTS must be worn with supplied pin.
- HATS may not be worn indoors.

UNIFORM PURCHASE
All uniform items must be purchased from the school except footwear, socks and tights. Payment must be in full on the date of purchase. No uniform pieces will leave school property without payment.
Please check the monthly school calendar for Uniform Hours or call the school office. The Uniform Room is located in the room beside the Gym and below the music room. Entrance is right beside the yellow gate.
Second hand uniforms are available.

Yes, at Assumption we offer a bus service at no cost to our families. We have one bus with a northern route and the other heads south. The routes are tailored to meet the needs of attending families. |
