Below you will find short biographies on all our teachers to give you a sense of who they are and what they stand for. |

Teacher: Mrs. Wyatt Teaching: Grade 5 My name is Carol Wyatt, and I am now in my fifth year teaching Grade 5 at Assumption School. My favourite activities are Art class and Gardening at lunch. Each year, the Grade 5 students create the most amazing art projects; they are keen and creative. Take a look at their project work that is framed and hanging outside our classroom. We also undertake gardening activities with the younger students each spring in order to share its produce with the elderly members of our Church family. Inside our classroom, we raise coho salmon for release into the Lang Bay Fish Hatchery each spring. As well, we enjoy guest teachers who share their expertise with us about Jesus, science and the human body, a salmon-rearing project, stewardship, plus developing problem-solving and personal decision-making skills. I appreciate having the privilege of teaching my students to become more competent in writing and reading. The real joy is encouraging them to develop their personal gifts and talents and seeing them share these with the community. |

Teacher: Mrs. Bigold Teaching: Grade 6 Mrs. Bigold teaches Gr 6 at Assumption School and is a true Powell Riverite. She was in the Grade 4 class when Assumption first opened in 1961. She began teaching Grade 6 at Assumption in the fall of 1994 and tries to make learning fun and have a lively classroom where children can experience a wide variety of activities. As well as Grade 6, she teaches the Gr 8/9 Home Economics Elective, prepares students for our school masses, helps Sister Michelina with the religious ceremonies, coaches the Gr. 6/7 Volleyball team and stands in for our principal, Mrs. Richardson when she is not available. "I truly love my job and try to instill in my students the desire to strive to do their best in all they do. It is wonderful to teach in an environment where one can talk of God, and my hope is that the children will live their faith in all that they do." |
