Dear Parents and Students,

I would like to extend a warm, welcome back to you all and especially to the new families that have joined our school this year. I hope you have enjoyed this wonderful stretch of summer weather we have been blessed with.

Each fall I invite families, if they have any concerns or ideas they would like to share, to email the office or if time permits to come into the office and speak with me.  There are times when I may not be available due to teaching or meeting schedules but if you call ahead the likelihood is that I will be able to find time to meet with you the same day.  Each September we also review bus routes and stops.  If parents have a suggestion we ask that you write it down and drop it off at the office or email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   and all suggestions will be considered.

Teachers are open and available as well.  With their busy teaching day though and extracurricular responsibilities, we ask that you book an appointment with them after school. Leave a message at the office as to when and what you would like to meet about and this way time spent will be more constructive.

I would like you to note that Photo Day is early again this year, Thursday September 6^th.  Students should have come home yesterday with a flyer from Life Touch that allows parents to choose background colour and pose.  After pictures come back parents may then choose size and number and pay at that time.  

Claudia has a ‘year at a glance’ calendar for those families that are new or are trying to make future plans.  These may be sent by email or picked up in the office when you are in the school. It is also available on our school website www.assumpschool.com.

Dear parents/guardians and students:

I would like to remind families, especially new families about the parking lot at school. From 8:40 to 9:00 am and 3:00 to 3:20 pm the parking lot is very busy and over the years we have had a number of close calls.  The procedure is for cars to drop off/pick up students at the yellow gate only.  This way they walk straight into the playground and are at no risk. If you are parking your car, try to do so along the edge of the field and either way please walk with children close to you to the yellow gate.  No students should be walking through the parking lot at these times and no students should be coming through the main doors.  Thanks for your support with this. 

Also, we do require a call/email if your child will not come to school by 9:15am. Just let us know if your child is absent due to sickness/holiday. As soon as your child comes back to school, send a short note to explain absence (include dates and reason). The government requires these notes for our grant.
