About Us

Assumption School

was founded back in 1961, and through hard work and spiritual guidance, we at Assumption, are very proud of what and who we have become. We are committed in promoting the development of the whole child to his or her full potential. We strive to develop Christian leaders, responsible citizens and life-long learners.

Strong Foundation in Faith

We are proud to be a part of the Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA), and are committed to our vision statement. “We strive to be a warm, welcoming, Christian-centered family where all will grow in faith, love, and knowledge.”

Assumption School and the BC Curriculum

Our school follows the British Columbia School Curriculum, offering education to students from Kindergarten to Grade 9, with the added benefit of being able to promote a Christian lifestyle to our students. This ensures that our graduates are well equipped to handle the academic and moral challenges that will them in high school and higher education.
In addition to our academic curriculum, we offer a comprehensive music program, a full computer lab, and a bright, welcoming library with over 18,000 titles. We also offer French language studies to all children from Kindergarten through grade 9.
The Ministry of Education in BC mandates our programs, and our BC certified teachers maintain a strong commitment to the core provinical curriculum. This includes instruction in Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, French, Physical Education, Music, Art, Drama, and electives for grades 8 and 9 students, which are subject to change each year.
In addition, we offer a variety of sports and activities to all our students from Kindergarten through to grade 9. We value the importance of keeping our youth active throughout the year.

Small class sizes with a true family atmosphere

At Assumption, we maintain a high standard of excellent teacher-student ratios, unmatched by traditional educational environments. We average 20 students per class, and feel strongly that education is best supported in a true, family-like environment.

Elective Courses for our Senior Students

Grade 8 and 9 students have the opportunity to experience two elective courses, of their choice, per term. They are designed to give students the opportunity to explore a broad range of experiences. Whether it be Home Economics, Media Studies, Drama, or Band, they have many to choose from.
By the end of grade 9 all students will need to have taken one Applied Skill and one Fine Arts Elective. Therefore, grade 9 students will have first priority in choosing their elective to fulfill these needs!
Grade 7 students also have the opportunity to enjoy an elective once a week during the year.
