We offer a comprehensive and sequential music program to students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 have fun learning melodic and rhythmic elements through singing and games. In Grade 4, students begin to recorder program, while students in Grade 5 learn to play the guitar.
In Grade 6, students begin the band program which becomes optional in Grades 7-9.
All students from Grades 6 to 9 have the opportunity to participate in the band program either through music class or electives. Students choose from a variety of instruments, including flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, bass guitar and percussion.
Junior and Senior choirs are available to students in Grades 3 and up. Throughout the year, students have opportunities to perform through assemblies, concerts, community events/venues and The Powell River Festival of the Performing Arts. |
